Pedro Munhoz Eyes Title Shot
Pedro Munhoz in a recent interview with MMA Fighting.com expressed confidence in his abilities, and believes a clean victory over Frankie Edgar will open possibilities for him to get a wild card entry to the title race. Munhoz stated, “I believe that with an impressive victory over Frankie Edgar, because of his name, I already see an open path to the belt. And the UFC knows the type of fighter I am. I don’t coast. Many athletes play strategies, being aggressive is my strategy. That’s the fighting style I like and that’s what fans and the UFC like, so I believe that would give me a great jump towards a title shot.”
However, the Brazilian also recognized Aljamain Sterling’s position to become the favorite to get the title shot, and voiced astound, and wondered why the Funk Master isn’t officially on the sheet yet. Munhoz said “I’ve always asked myself that question, ‘Why not?’, he won his last five against renowned guys, and that surprised me at first. I don’t know why that happened.”
In the same interview, The Young Punisher expressed his admiration towards the champ Petr Yan as well, and conveyed that the two have lots in common, when it comes to the in-ring act.
