Joe Rogan is one of the most famous sports combat sports commentators in the world. He has been working with the UFC for over two decades. Having joined the company as a backstage interviewer, he was later transferred into color commentary and has made quite a name for himself. Apart from being a UFC commentator, Rogan is also a standup comedian and a podcast host.
His podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience is one of the biggest podcasts in the world. With that said about the 55-year-old, let’s find out if he will be present on the commentary desk or not this weekend at UFC 289.
Will Joe Rogan commentate on UFC 289?
The UFC is set to return to Canada with the UFC 289 pay-per-view this weekend. With a stacked card in store for the fans, the UFC will be missing a vital name on the commentary desk and that is Joe Rogan.
While it hasn’t been revealed why he won’t be at the event, it is worth noting that Rogan has often missed pay-per-view events that take place outside of the United States of America as a result of his busy schedule.
Replacing him will be former UFC fighter Paul Felder who will join Jon Anik and former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier who is a part of the regular commentary team for the UFC.
UFC 289 will be headlined by a women’s bantamweight championship bout between Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana. On the co-main event, Beneil Dariush and former champion Charles Oliveira will lock horns to potentially become the next title challenger.
Joe Rogan views Francis Ngannou’s move to PFL as a big loss
Former UFC champion Francis Ngannou departed from the company earlier this year. After months of scouting for different organizations, he signed a lucrative deal with the PFL. While he seems to be happy with the decision, Joe Rogan does not seem to be a fan of it.
The UFC commentator spoke about Francis Ngannou’s move to the PFL during an episode of #1991 of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. The 55-year-old explained how it’s a big loss since he won’t be fighting in the UFC which is undoubtedly the biggest MMA promotion in the world.
That said, Ngannou’s ship at the UFC has sailed too far away now. And considering his relationship with Dana White now, it is very unlikely for him to return to the biggest stage of MMA later in his career.
Do you guys think it was right for Ngannou to move away from UFC? Are you guys excited for UFC 289?
