Unai Emery provides big update on Mesut Ozil’s fitness after 3-0 loss to Leicester
Arsenal suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat to Leicester City as the side’s chances for the top-4 look bleaker by the week. Unai Emery provided an update on Mesut Ozil, who missed the game.
The Arsenal fans suffered another massive heartbreak as the side suffered a 3-0 loss to Leicester City in the Premier League.
This was Arsenal’s third successive league defeat, and their chances of qualifying for the Champions League through a top-4 finish look minimal. Unai Emery’s men will now have to rely on the results of the other teams in the race.
Alternatively, they can also secure a Champions League spot through the Europa League, where they face Valencia in the semifinal.
Unai Emery talked to the media for the post-match conference following Arsenal’s dismal performance and provided an update on Mesut Ozil’s fitness.
Unai Emery on Ozil:
The Arsenal head coach talked about Arsenal’s performance in the game, stating that Maitland-Niles’ red card was the turning point of the game.
“Our gameplan was to be strong,” Emery began.
“Today in our defence moments and attacking moments we didn’t take our chances. We started very well. The idea was to control with possession. We wanted to be competitive. The second yellow card gave us a lot of problems.”
Emery also stated that the top-4 is difficult to achieve, but added that the side needs to step up in the upcoming Europa League game against Valencia.
“We knew it was going to very difficult at the start of the season
“We are going to prepare for the next match against Valencia. The most important thing is to be clear in our minds. We need to prepare for Valencia.”
Finally, he provided an update on Mesut Ozil.
“We are going to wait for tomorrow and Tuesday to see if he will be fit for Valencia,” Emery said.

I have some sympathy for Emery in general, but we had a crucial week with a real opportunity to secure top 4 and I think his management of it has been really poor.
Three games, three defeats, three goals conceded in each game. Players poor but the buck stops with the manager.
