USA’s Alex Morgan Quits Tottenham After Only Three Months At The Club: The USA international player decided not to extend her short appearance at Tottenham

Having only gotten on board in September, Alex Morgan decided that she’s had enough of English football. The USA player confirmed today that she would be departing the land only three months into her stay at Tottenham.

The World Cup winning player decided to extend her services to the English club ensuing her pregnancy. Undergoing a hectic recovery period after the birth of her daughter Charlie in May, Morgan was quick to make her intentions clear upon joining Tottenham.

The American had stated upon her arrival that she would wait to see how things unfolded for her at her new club before deciding if she wanted to invest more time at the club.

“I can’t think too much in the future without really sitting down for a long period of time,” she said.

“I didn’t have that time to make a drastic decision for my family so whether I’m here for three months, six months or even further, I’ll take it one step at a time right now,” Morgan had said back in September.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, Morgan’s next step doesn’t work in their favour with the player deciding to return to USA with the Women’s Super League currently at his halfway break, one which sees the league breaking off till January 9.

“I will be forever grateful to the Club, my team-mates and Spurs supporters for taking such good care of me and my family.

“From the moment I arrived in London, I realised I was part of a first-class organisation, one that helped provide me the opportunity to immerse myself back into the game I love,” Morgan said in a statement released by Tottenham.

The latest development comes across as a massive setback for Tottenham who are currently languishing in 8th spot in the WSL. Although Morgan had scored just twice for the club in her five appearances, her expansive skill set could have proved incisive to the club in the second half of the season.

Morgan had failed to score from open play with her two goals being penalties against Brighton and Aston Villa after signing for Tottenham from NSWL side Orlando Pride.
