With a peak concurrent player base of around 360,000, Valheim is one of the most trending survival games currently. The game hit the milestone just 13 days after being released.
The game centers around being able to efficiently grind your way through acquiring materials and defeating monsters while doing it. People that buy the game are nicknamed Vikings and are part of the Valheim community.
The developers of the game boast that this is the largest population of Vikings since 1300 AD. The population of the Vikings in 1300 A.D was around 500,000. The game has amassed the support of more than 2 million Vikings in just 13 days.
However, the game is not for everyone. If you feel like a quick progression-based game is more your type, then Valheim is definitely not for you. Progression comes after hours and hours of grinding and may not seem worth it to people at times.
What is Valheim about?
Valheim is a Viking-themed game that hinges around being able to fight off monsters and not starving. The game’s fighting mechanics are quite nice for a survival game and are based on a few basic principles.
With a file size of just 1 GB, the game does an amazing job of delivering an entertaining experience. Initial progress in the game is quite scarce though, as it takes quite a lot of time to get a hang of the mechanics. The game features boss battles that have ensured progress for the player if they defeat the boss. However, dying can prove quite costly as re-acquiring material from one’s death point is extremely difficult.
This makes surviving an even more essential aspect because of the high stakes involved. Upgrading also takes some fore-thought as builds are not teleported, which tends to make upgrading quite high risk.
