Vettel gives Raikkonen related reason for Milan demo crash

Sebastian Vettel was involved in an embarrassing crash in the demo event at Milan in the lead up to Ferrari’s home grand prix at Monza.

The four time champion hit the barrier and damaged his front wing in the minor crash that happened at the event.

Vettel was apologetic about the crash  but revealed that the crash actually happened because of he was using Kimi’s steering wheel.

“I apologised,” Vettel said.

“I went with the car and the steering wheel of Kimi, who had the clutch on the other side.

“I didn’t think about it, and at that point I was too fast. I asked if it would be possible to change the wing to do two more laps for the fans.

“Obviously it was my mistake, but that’s OK.”

Now, while the crash wouldn’t be the ideal way to start off an important weekend in the world championship race, Ferrari and Vettel would be hoping that the mini crash does not have any bearing on this weekend’s result.

Vettel is looking forward to it and wants to provide Monza with ‘great emotions’.

“It’s a special weekend for us and the team and I feel it as well.

“We hope to give Monza great emotions and with this Ferrari I know that we can do a great race.

“For us this race is a championship. I know it has created enthusiasm for the fans and I hope to be able to dream with them.” he concluded.

What do you make of that Vettel crash and do you think Ferrari stand a chance to upturn their fortunes at Monza?
