Virat Kohli on Australia series fixtures: More ODIs would have been ideal and logical
Virat Kohli on Australia series fixtures: The Indian captain doesn’t seem very pleased regarding the fixtures for the Australia series.
Sounding unhappy with the fixtures for the Australia series, India captain Virat Kohli feels that a couple of more ODIs in place of two T20Is would have been ‘beneficial’ ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
“Probably, a couple of more ODIs would have been more beneficial for both the teams not just us. It would have been more ideal and logical. But look we have to utilise what’s in front of us as best as possible. And as I said we’re going to look to get into the right kind of frame of mind as a team,” Kohli was quoted as saying to the reporters during the pre-series press conference at Visakhapatnam.

“We’re more or less sorted”
The Australia series being their last international assignment before the World Cup, India are most likely to consider it as a rehearsal for the same. On being asked about if the team management will consider making further changes to the team, Kohli answered that changes might happen if someone surprises during this series.

“We’re more or less sorted. But through the course of the series you might see something which might surprise you as a team and which you might want to change immediately. But those are things that are upon how circumstances come in front of you,” Kohli said.

“As of now, we feel pretty balanced as a side and I don’t see any concerns or areas that we need to think about anymore. Everything is more or less sorted,” he further said.
Resting Kuldeep Yadav, India have included uncapped leg-spinner Mayank Markande for the T20I series. Being asked if the Mumbai Indians-spinner will get to play a match, the skipper chose to not disclose the playing XI a day prior to the match.
“Look, he [Markande] has been given an opportunity because he’s done well. It’s purely giving a youngster a chance, who has done well over the last couple of seasons and bowled well in the IPL and T20 cricket,” Kohli concluded.
