Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar has quickly risen among the ranks over the last few months, as the teenager has propelled himself into the national team reckoning.

The lanky Tamil Nadu spinner made a name for himself in last year’s IPL, as he showed a lot of promise with the Rising Pune Super Giants.

Sundar made his debut for India a couple of months ago, as he bowled well in the limited overs versus Sri Lanka at home. Still only 18, Sundar showed enough promise to earn himself an IPL contract, as many teams bid aggressively for the talented spinner.

Eventually it was the Royal Challengers of Bengaluru who won his signature, as Sundar will now put on the red jersey of RCB in the IPL.

Sundar was understandably excited about his new club, and cannot wait to play in front of the passionate RCB supporters at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

The bowler was also extremely keen on playing with Kohli and AB de Villiers, as Sundar revealed his admiration of the two batting greats of the modern game.

“I am delighted to have been picked up by RCB. I am a big fan of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. It will be a priceless experience to play with them after having played alongside MS Dhoni for (Rising) Pune Supergiant last year,” Washington said.

He added, “Having played with MSD in last year’s IPL and imbibed a lot of good things and now I feel it will be a blessing to be in Kohli’s team. I can learn a lot by watching them from close quarters.”

Sundar’s acquisition will come as a coup for RCB, as the Bengaluru outfit can now boast of two of the best spinners in the country. Sundar will support Yuzi Chahal, as the spin duo will try and take wickets in the middle of the innings.

Kohli will hoping that Sundar strikes up a good partnership with Chahal, as the RCB outfit will rely on them to control the innings.

Hopefully, Sundar will shine in Bengaluru as he could become a crucial weapon for the franchise in their bid to lift their maiden IPL title.
