Wow! AB de Villiers has just dropped Virat Kohli!
Who would have thought this would happen?
Long time friends, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have redefined the art of batsman ship over the last few years, as these two batting gods have taken the game to another level all together.
Even in the ongoing series between India and South Africa, only Kohli and De Villiers have batted with some authority in these bowling friendly conditions.
Even in the field, both Kohli and ABD are fantastic athletes, as they often pull out brilliant catches in the field. Which is why De Villiers dropping Kohli in the slips was such a shock to everyone.
Earlier in the day, Virat Kohli talked positively after winning the toss and batting first on a green top.
“We are going to bat first. There is a good grass covering here and it’s always been there. If we bat first and bat well, it’s always an added advantage. (On the good record at Jo’burg) We’ve played some really good cricket here. Even the last time around, we did well.”
“Should be a good contest. We are up against a side who are really strong in their conditions as they have shown in the first two Tests. We are trying to improve as a side and correct our mistakes. It’s never too late to do it. We have two changes. Rahane replaces Rohit and Bhuvneshwar comes in for Ashwin.”
People were surprised by the selection decisions as not many people were expecting to see Ashwin omitted from the line-up.
Then again, Kohli brought this upon himself, as the Indian skipper had made some head scratching decisions in the previous two matches.
Right from the outset, Kohli seemed quite confident and wanted to stamp his authority on the match.
Walking in at 13-2, Virat Kohli knew that he had a job on his hands today. The Indian skipper tried to launch a counter attack himself, but after playing and missing a couple of deliveries, Kohli settled down and played safe.
Kohli survived the first session after he was dropped by Philander off Rabada. The Indian skipper then survived another chance, when he took a wild swing at a poor delivery from Morkel.
And then ABD dropped what was a regulation catch, to prove that he is indeed human!
