Watch: Ashish Nehra shows off his footy skills in his last game
Ashish Nehra might not have taken any wicket in the T20I opener against New Zealand. But, he showed off his street-smart football skills in his farewell game in what was such a delightful attempt.
In reply to India’s 202/3, New Zealand were tottering at 99/7 as they fell into the tricky trap set by the Indians. Kiwis were running out of balls, wickets, clues, and everything.
Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a wide outside leg-stump to Tim Southee. The latter managed to connect it but the ball fell drifted onto his pads and went to the straight fine leg.
Ashish Nehra who was tad near the region saw the ball coming in his way but slightly off the target. He couldn’t put a full-length dive like what Hardik Pandya did.

Nehra had other ideas in advance. He used his quick feet to stop the ball and take the ball in style. That crafty attempt by Nehra clearly seemed more like a football skill.
He stunned the fans by doing this and even the Indian skipper Virat Kohli was absolutely delighted with Nehra’s canny effort to stop the extra flow of two runs.
The Indian players loved it. MS Dhoni who saw it at a better sight also clapped Nehra’s effort. Chahal also appreciated it.
How's that for footy skills from our very own Nehraji? What do you make of that @YUVSTRONG12 😉 #INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/YaTeJk5d0t
