Travelling to Vicarage Road, Manchester United would have been feeling a little itchy, as the last time they travelled to Watford, they were blown away by a very strong performance from a gritty Watford side.
14 months on and Watford still posed a threat. They had had their blips and rises in between, but they looked set to cause United all sorts of problems today, especially with United’s troubles on the road this season.
But 19 minutes into the game, Ashley Young settled United nerves, as he drilled a brilliant volley past Gomez. And when you thought that Young had produced the goal of the night, he unleashed a rip-roaring free kick into the top right-hand corner to double United’s lead.

Ashley Young has been in some fine form over the past few weeks and if he continues to perform in this way, he could very well cement his position as the first choice left back in Jose Mourinho’s side.
