During the 18th match of the ongoing ninth season of the Big Bash League between Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat in Hobart, Brisbane Heat all-rounder Ben Cutting did justice to his reputation of being a big-hitter of the ball.
Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 17th over, Cutting scored 18* (8) with the help of two fours and a six to power his team to 212/3 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.
Cutting’s best shot came in the last over off Hobart pacer Nathan Ellis when the former clobbered a low full-toss from the off-stump to the deep mid-wicket boundary for a magnificent six.
After Hurricanes captain Ben McDermott won the toss and invited the hosts in to bat, Heat thrived on the back of a 95-run partnership between Heat opening batsman Max Bryant (65) and captain Chris Lynn. Having scored 88* (55) with the help of 11 fours and three sixes, Lynn was declared the Man of the Match.
Chasing a 213-run target, Hobart Hurricanes were restricted to 181/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs as each one of Heat’s seven bowlers were among the wickets. The visiting bowlers not allowing any significant partnership throughout the innings saw them registering a 31-run victory.
