Fans around the world associate the cricketers from the Caribbean as fun and outgoing. They play a fearless brand of cricket, yet you will find them smiling and laughing regardless of the results. Their happy go lucky spirit is very infectious and makes them arguably the most likeable country in cricket.
Much like its players, the CPL also has an image of an extravaganza where it’s all about skill and fun. Imagine a carnival where you go through the thrills and highs of the proceedings and yet leave with a smile regardless of the consequence.
However, during Sunday’s eliminator match between Trinbago Knight Riders and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, the smiles were thrown away for a verbal tirade involving 3 West Indian players over a very bizarre reason.

Knight Riders were trailing at 35-3 after 7 overs while chasing a target of 126. Fabian Allen bowled the 8th over and threw a good length delivery to Ramdin who flicked the ball towards square. With the ball dead, Ramdin walked out of the pitch to chat with his partner Lendl Simmons.
However, this irked Patriots’ skipper Braithwaite, who would go on and take the bails off and appeal for a run-out. The appeal was naturally turned down on account of the ball no longer being in play. However, Braithwaite could not be calmed and diverted his attention to Ramdin.
Lendl Simmons had had enough of it and went on a verbal tirade on Braithwaite who dished the abuse back in equal measures. The argument had reached the point where the umpire had to step in and separate the players.
The umpire would later have a long chat with Braithwaite which caused a delay in the match. After a break, the match would finally resume with Patriots keeper, Devon Thomas breaking the ice with some light-hearted banter with the batsmen in the middle. Knight Riders would go on to win the match by 6 wickets.
