Watch: Marcus Rashford outmuscles Virgil Van Dijk after speed battle during Manchester United vs Liverpool match in their Premier League encounter.
Manchester United vs Liverpool is the biggest fixture in the Premier League calendar. Off late battle has lost some of its sheen with United’s downward spiral. However, the encounter remains just as anticipated as it has always been.

Ask any of the players that proudly wear the Red jerseys on both sides and you will realize the magnitude of the moment. Past form, records and glory count for nothing. All that matters is what happens in the 90 minutes the players do battle.
Liverpool arrived at Old Trafford with a perfect record of wins in the Premier League this season. The European Champions looked like favourites and a clobbering seemed to be in store for their Arch Rivals. Manchester United on the other hand, were coming off a defeat to Newcastle United.
Moreover, the club was ailing with injuries to their star players. However, David De Gea, Anthony Martial and Aaron Wan Bisakka started the match despite injury concerns. Unfortunately for United though, Axel Tuanzebe was replaced by Marcus Rojo just before kick-off.
Regardless, United look like a completely different outfit. The Red Devils have matched the European Champions inch for inch and even managed to take the lead before half-time; albeit a little controversially. However, just before United scored the lead, the intensity of the rivalry was on display when Marcus Rashford and Virgil Van Dijk duelled for the ball.

Harry Maguire aggressively won the ball back and immediately fired the ball into the channel. Rashford and Van Dijk then got into a race for the ball. Both players matched each other in speed. However, Rashford then overpowered Van Dijk rather surprisingly and threw him to the ground after a shoulder challenge.

At the time of writing, Manchester United still lead the match by a goal with an hour struck off the clock. Should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men pull this through, this would probably be the biggest upset of the season. Arguably bigger than Norwich’s victory over Manchester City earlier last month.
