WATCH: Maria Sharapova gets a mid-match proposal from a fan!
Maria Sharpaova’s male fan following is off the charts, and the glamorous former World Number one is not new to receiving fan shoutouts during matches, but the one she received in her exhibition event at Istanbul was a rather weird one.
While Sharapova was setting up to serve, a fan shouted out ‘Maria, will you marry me?” making the crowd burst into laughter, big time.
Maria though, did not get flustered, instead she decided to give the crowd some more by shouting out loud ‘Maybe’.

The crowd went wild after that as they were surprised by the spontaneity of Sharapova who tackled the intervention with such panache.
Maria Sharapova has had a decent enough comeback after her suspension, but is still searching for that long stretch of momentum in order to get her career on track.
Sharapova though is also dealing with a court case against her in India, wherein a luxury housing project that she had endorsed ended up collapsing big time. The project was supposed to have a tennis academy, for which Sharapova had even flown to India.
