Mayank Agarwal hit in the neck: The Indian opening batsman was hit severely in the neck while he was fielding at short-leg.

During the fourth day of the third Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Melbourne, India opening batsman Mayank Agarwal got hit on his neck while fielding at short-leg.

In which was a severe blow right in the middle of his neck, it saw him walking back to the dressing room with Lokesh Rahul coming in as a replacement. While there seemed to be anything dangerous, it was more of a precautionary move. Having said that, no official update has come out from the Indian camp on the same.

It all happened on the second delivery of the 16th over when Australia top-order batsman Usman Khawaja hit a fierce sweep off India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. With the ball bouncing off the pitch, it gave Agarwal no chance whatsoever to prevent it from hitting him. Him not having his eyes on the ball further didn’t help his case.

The blow had immediately called for the Indian physio on the ground before the decision of taking the fielder off the field.

Playing his debut match, Agarwal scored a gritty half-century in the first innings and followed it up with an impressive 42 in the second innings. Having provided India with resolute at the top of the order, one expects him to continue in the same fashion in the times to come.
