Stewards chase Benjamin Mendy: Manchester City defeated Liverpool 2-1 on Thursday night, thus ending their unbeaten league run.
Manchester City reduced the gap with Liverpool to four points in the league table after their win at Etihad on Thursday night. Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane scored the goals in City’s win.
The result was almost poetic as it were Liverpool who ended Manchester City’s unbeaten run in the league last season in January.
City win has blown the title race open, with Tottenham six points Liverpool, and two behind Guardiola’s side.
The match was marred with controversy surrounding goal-line technology, as well as a potential red-card tackle on Mohamed Salah by Vincent Kompany. Jurgen Klopp criticised the referee’s decision in the post-match interview.
However, at the end of the match, a rather funny incident took place on the pitch.
Stewards chase Benjamin Mendy:
Benjamin Mendy didn’t play the game, but was involved in a funny incident on the pitch after full-time.
As the referee blew the whistle signifying the end of the match, Mendy ran on to the pitch to celebrate with his teammates.
However, the stewards at the stadium mistook him for a pitch invader, and chased him.
Here’s the video:
A classic @benmendy23 moment – running on to the pitch after you’ve just beaten your rivals and to be chased my stewards who think you’re pitch invading! 😂😂🦈🦈 #MCILIV pic.twitter.com/fFfcLzloy7

Huge fan of the stewards who thought Mendy was a pitch invader just carrying on their runs as if they’ve missed the number 6 bus and are hiding the embarrassment. pic.twitter.com/jwNOaMDHRr
