Yuvraj Singh emulates MS Dhoni's Helicopter Shot

Yuvraj Singh emulates MS Dhoni’s Helicopter Shot: The veteran Indian all-rounder played the Helicopter Shot in the nets.

Veteran India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was recently witnessed emulating former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Batting during a practice session for his latest Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians, Yuvraj was seen playing the iconic ‘Helicopter Shot’.

With the 12th season of the IPL slated to begin in less than two weeks now, players who aren’t playing for their respective countries have joined the practice camps of their respective IPL franchises.

Having last played for India during India’s tour of West Indies 2017, Yuvraj has joined the Indians’ camp. The 37-year old cricketer would be wanting to make a mark in whatever opportunities he gets.

In the eight matches which Yuvraj played for the Kings XI last season, he scored 65 runs at an average of 10.83 and a strike rate of 89.04. Such paltry numbers had it in them for his franchise to release him and that is what eventually happened.

There is no hiding to the fact that Yuvraj never really got going in the cash-rich tournament. In 128 IPL matches, the southpaw scored 2,652 runs at an average of 24.78 and a strike rate of 129.68. A mere 12 half-centuries in 10 years of the IPL doesn’t serve his potential.

There is no denying to the fact that it won’t be surprising if Yuvraj doesn’t feature in Mumbai Indians’ playing XI in the first few matches. In a recent interview, Yuvraj had talked about how he aims to help captain Rohit Sharma in IPL 2019.

The optimist in him is waiting for the day when Punjab Kings will win their maiden Indian Premier League title.
