Why is Kagiso Rabiso not playing today vs CSK

Why is Kagiso Rabiso not playing today vs CSK: Delhi Capitals fast bowler has been rested for their match against Chennai Super Kings.

During the 50th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at Chennai, Delhi Capitals fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has not been included in their Playing XI.

It is worth mentioning that Rabada is currently the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. In 12 matches, he has picked 25 wickets at an average of 14.72, an economy rate of 7.82 and a strike rate of 11.28.

While form was never a worry for Capitals with respect to Rabada, it is believed that the South African fast bowler is suffering from a back niggle.

Other than Rabada, Delhi Capitals have also rested senior fast bowler Ishant Sharma, who has dismissed seven batsmen at an average of 36.14, an economy rate of 7.44 and a strike rate of 29.14.

It was DC captain Shreyas Iyer who won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first. “We’re bowling first. Hoping for dew in the second innings. The wicket looks dry so we have got three spinners in our side too.

“[Jagadeesan] Suchith and Trent Boult come in for Ishant Sharma and Rabada. Rabada has some back issue, but it’s a precautionary measure, and Ishant has an ankle niggle,” Iyer was quoted as saying during the toss ceremony.

In what was a misunderstanding during the toss, Iyer didn’t mention that all-rounder Chris Morris has replaced leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.

On the other side, regular captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has returned for Super Kings. “Less dew today, because of the cloud cover. When you’ve played enough international cricket it’s never 100% [talking about his fitness]. You’re always a little less than that.

“We were looking to bat first anyway. It’s a bit of a worry for the opposition, because I’ll be coughing at them [laughs]. Me, Faf [du Plessis] and [Ravindra] Jadeja come in for Dhruv Shorey, [Mitchell] Santner, and Murali Vijay,” Dhoni was quoted as saying during the toss.
