During the second day of the second Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Pune, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was found guilty of running on the pitch. Jadeja eventually got an official warning regarding the same.
However, Jadeja was once again seen running on the middle of the pitch. Just as he started to run the single, Jadeja realized his mistake and immediately leaped towards his left to make sure that he doesn’t run on the pitch again.
Had Jadeja been found guilty of the same once again, South Africa would have received five runs at the start of their innings as a penalty to the Indian team. During New Zealand’s tour of India in 2016, Jadeja was found guilty of the same and had costed five runs to his team.
Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the 118th over, Jadeja scored his 12th Test half-century to propel India to 601/5 dec. in 156.3 overs. Before becoming the fifth Indian batsman to get out, Jadeja ended up scoring 91 (104) with the help of eight fours and two sixes.
Jadeja shared a 225-run partnership for the fifth wicket alongside captain Virat Kohli who ended up scoring 254* (336) with the help of 33 fours and two sixes. Since the start of 2017, Jadeja has scored 873 runs in 20 Tests at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 65.14 including a century and eight half-centuries.
