CM Punk is, without a question, one of the most resented wrestlers in the world of pro wrestling. After the infamous brawl out post-All Out media scrum, CM Punk’s reputation has been marred. The media has painted him as the primary aggressor and the only wrongdoer. However, a new report states that in the eyes of the law, CM Punk does not owe an apology to the Elite. In fact, the EVPs owe CM Punk an apology.
For months, CM Punk has been viewed as an albatross around the neck of Tony Khan’s company. While it is true that Punk is famously known as a line-stepper, it is also true that he did not alone occasion the slugfest backstage.
The heat from both sides instigated the infamous mele in AEW. But there is no denying that Punk started things off by going on a tirade of abuse, sparking a reaction from the Elite.
CM Punk does not owe The Elite an apology according to the law
PWInsider writer Dave Scherer reported that his friend Brett, who is also a lawyer, imparted with him who the law holds accountable in CM Punk’s brawl out incident. According to the law, per PWInsider, Kenny Omega, Young Bucks, and others committed assault by invading Punk’s dressing room.
THE LAW SAYS IF ANYTHING, CM PUNK DESERVES AN APOLOGY (OR MORE), NOT THE ELITE Elite: https://t.co/d97cI6gVVx, Free: https://t.co/Wg2lRMOJry

It’s worth noting that since the Elite was unbidden, their entry into Punk’s locker room counts as an offense. The three elements of assault leveled against the Elite listed are as follows-
- The act was intended to cause apprehension of harmful or offensive contact; and.
- The act indeed caused reasonable apprehension in the victim that harmful or offensive contact would occur.
- An imminent physical gesture signifying a threat. Of course, after the EVPs committed assault, CM Punk committed BATTERY (whether that was legally defensible based on the assault is an open legal question. Just thought i’d share this info to add some context
According to the lawyer, the aforementioned elements signify that CM Punk should not be held responsible alone and that he does not owe the Elite an apology. Conversely, the apology has to come from Kenny Omega and the YB.
CM Punk is seemingly going to make his comeback to AEW soon
It was earlier reported by multiple sources that CM Punk is likelier to make his return to AEW in June. The June 22 edition of Dynamite will emanate from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois. The former AEW World Champion is a Chicago native.
Dave Meltzer later revealed that CM Punk would have a meeting with Chris Jericho to see if the duo could co-exist.

It’s worth noting that The Elite has reportedly expressed its unwillingness to co-exist with Punk. Say what you will about Punk, but his return to AEW could spur AEW’s ticket sales.
