CM Punk AEW Collision

With AEW’s newest brand, Collision, ready to premiere on June 17 on TNT, all eyes are on CM Punk. The Straight Edge superstar went off the deep end during the All Out media scrum in 2022. His actions backstage resulted in his indefinite suspension from AEW. It is known that CM Punk is looking to make his return to AEW as the face of the Saturday Night show. According to a new report, CM Punk is also looking to reignite his feud with his old rival, Samoa Joe.

CM Punk was scheduled for a sit-down with Chris Jericho earlier. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that the meeting in Florida birthed the idea of a potential feud between Chris Jericho and CM Punk. Punk and Jericho were conspicuously not on good terms after the Brawl Out incident.

However, the duo may have ironed out their differences during their meeting. In addition to the Punk-Jericho feud, the Second City Saint is looking to face Samoa Joe upon his return.

CM Punk reportedly wants to work with Samoa Joe upon his return to AEW Collision

According to Fightful Select, CM Punk has pitched to rekindle his rivalry with Samoa Joe. The report suggests that Punk wants to face Samoa Joe in his return match. Samoa Joe and CM Punk know each other very well. Their rivalry dates back to their stint in Ring of Honor (ROH) in 2004-2005. The duo delivered a trilogy of very physical matches.

The first two matches of their rivalry ended indecisively after both athletes refused to let up even after crossing the 60-minute time limit. Their final bout saw Samoa Joe emerging as the victor. That said, CM Punk has never defeated Samoa Joe one-on-one.

The reigning ROH Television Champion hasn’t met CM Punk in the ring since 2005. At this point, it is unknown if the match will be an extended feud or a one-shot match. But we will have to wait and see how things play out when the former AEW Champion finally makes his return.

Samoa Joe once expressed his desire to renew his classic rivalry with CM Punk

Samoa Joe joined AEW in 2022. Since his arrival, The Destroyer has mainly been used in ROH. Although Punk and Joe were in the same company, they never crossed paths. However, during an edition of the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Samoa Joe expressed his readiness to renew his long-standing rivalry with CM Punk.

“I mean, obviously me and Punk have been skirting around this issue for a while, and I think we can get it settled.”
