Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been a bankable name from the squared circle to the silver screen. The WWE Icon has played several kinds of roles in his significant Hollywood career so far. However, fans want to see him playing the iconic British Secret Service agent, 007. Even Dwayne Johnson has expressed his desire to become James Bond on the big screen. However, the chances of that happening appear to be very low.

Debbie McWilliams, the casting director of the popular British spy franchise, recently spoke to The Radio Times. During the conversation, she explained why Dwayne Johnson is not a good fit to play the role of James Bond.

Debbie McWilliams says James Bond must look like a normal guy, not Dwayne Johnson

Speaking on the show, Debbie McWilliams opened up about the approach she employed while casting for the role of 007. According to her, there is no ideal criterion to define who can play the role. However, whoever is to be James Bond has to look like a normal person instead of looking like Dwayne Johnson.

McWilliams further added that the British Spy must have a great body but at the same time, should not stand out. She stated:

“He [James Bond] has to look like a regular guy… You can’t be Dwayne Johnson. He has to have a great physique. It [the role] demands a high level of fitness, but he shouldn’t stand out in any situation.”

Debbie McWilliams, in a way, made it clear that despite having everything, Dwayne Johnson cannot play James Bond. For her, playing the iconic British Spy character means a massive responsibility.

To exemplify, she recalled going for a different feel while casting for the Casino Royale movie. According to her, young actors lacked gravitas and experience. Therefore, they had to scrub the idea and start over.

Dwayne Johnson was ousted of the DCEU after Black Adam

The wrestler turned actor recently portrayed the role of Black Adam in the DCEU. The film set up a potential clash with Superman. However, in the time since both Johnson and Henry Cavill, who played the role of Superman, have been ousted from the franchise.

According to TheWrap, Johnson was bullish and pressured the studio on several creative decisions.

“Dwayne tries to sell himself as bigger than the movie,” an unnamed Hollywood executive told TheWrap. “Instead of making a movie, he wants to extend his brand and make a brand centered on himself.”

The Rock has been accused of trying to position himself as the mainstay of the DC Universe alongside Superman, instead of Shazam, who is his actual rival in the comics.

His refusal to share screen space with Shazam and lobby for a showdown against Superman instead has come under criticism from several sectors.

The failure of his own movie was the final straw regarding his own stay within the franchise. With the latest news regarding his casting in the 007 movies, it appears that the last few months have been quite hard on the Brahma Bull.

The Rock sent a message to his WWE fans and squared circle fellows before WrestleMania 39

Just like last year and the year before, The Great One didn’t appear at this year’s Showcase of Immortals. However, he did send a heartfelt message to the WWE Universe and his fellow brothers and sisters of the squared circle. Before WrestleMania 39, The Rock took to Twitter and thanked fans for their support.

He appreciated the WWE Universe for motivating them to do what they do in the ring. The Great One also mentioned his daughter Ava Raine, who made her in-ring debut at NXT Stand and Deliver pre-show on April 1. Talking to WWE superstars, he urged his fellow wrestlers to move the crowd and at the same time, enjoy.
