Lana says she wouldn’t be where she is without Becky Lynch

WWE Superstar Lana says she wouldn’t be where she is without Becky Lynch. The Ravishing Russian had a very eventful 2021.

Lana started her career in the WWE as the manager of her husband and former WWE star Miro, Formerly Known as Rusev. She slowly transitioned into an in ring performer and by last year she established herself as a member of the WWE roster.

Following Miro’s move to AEW, it seemed that the WWE was punishing her after having Nia Jax put her through the announcer’s table for weeks on end. The storyline would later lead to Lana becoming the sole survivor at Survivor Series after barely doing anything in the match.

She would eventually get one over Nia Jax and it seemed that the storyline would culminate with her prising  the WWE Women’s Tag team championship from her bully. Charlotte would later replace Lana following a kayfabe injury and as disappointing that may have been for her, by then she had done enough to get over with the fans as a wrestler.

Lana has previously spoken about her depression. In a recent interview with talkSPORT, she revealed that she used to feel discouraged when the pandemic started and former RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch helped her get through it,

“Becky has helped me a lot. That would be someone that probably people don’t know about because of characters, storylines etc. But man, I have learned so much from Becky! I think partly, before The Man started, at live events she would be in the match and taking heat and I would be learning from her. She was so tough on me. But man, if she wasn’t tough, I wouldn’t be where I am right now. She was so tough – she would always be like ‘toughen up!’ and this and that.”

“And now, I get texts from her saying ‘I’m so proud of you.’ She texts me every single week. I’m so thankful for that because when this whole pandemic started, I remember being so discouraged and I remember her telling me ‘you’re so strong. You’re such a strong woman. Now you’ve got to be who you are. Keep on carrying this, keep working hard, harder than anyone else so we can bring the people back that we love so much’ – and I remember those words.”

Lana is currently the number one contender to the Women’s Tag team Championships, this time with Naomi by her side. However, she will have to wait for her chance at revenge with Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler scheduled to defend their titles against Dusty Rhodes Tag team classic winners, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez on 3rd March.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
