CM Punk Colt Cabana

CM Punk and Colt Cabana used to be friends. Punk used Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast to air his grievances with the WWE after being fired from the promotion. This led to a lawsuit by the WWE against them. During their legal battle with WWE, however, the two friends fell apart. Cabana claimed that Punk did not keep his word to pay his legal bills and sued the former WWE Champion. Punk then countersued Cabana. Eventually, both lawsuits were dismissed, but what was the reason for the rift between the two stars?

It was long believed that Punk’s issue with Cabana began after he attended a WWE event. However, it appears that the real reason is actually much more trivial.

CM Punk and Colt Cabana rift allegedly began over the latter sharing a Pizza with WWE stars!

According to Dave Meltzer, CM Punk did not approve of Colt Cabana getting pizza with PAC, who was known as Neville at the time, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Cabana has been friends with the aforementioned wrestlers for several years.

They’ve known each other since their time in the Indies. However, Punk was of the opinion that due to their legal battle with the WWE, they were better off not being in contact with stars from the promotion.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said:

Cabana didn’t go to a WWE show. He actually went out for pizza with Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and PAC a couple of years ago. That’s what caused the start of everything. He [Punk] felt that they shouldn’t have contact with anyone in WWE because of the lawsuit.”

Rift with Colt Cabana eventually led to altercation between CM Punk and The Elite at AEW All Out

Colt Cabana was in AEW long before CM Punk joined the promotion. However, soon after he joined the promotion, Cabana was moved over to Ring of Honor. It was speculated that Punk forced Tony Khan to make the decision.

After the All Out Pay Per View, Punk lashed out at a reporter, who he believed to be friends with Cabana. He then went on a tirade over his former friend before putting the rest of the locker room on blast.

This eventually led to Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks approaching him backstage. Matters instantly went out of hand and an altercation took place between the two parties.

The Elite were suspended and doubts were cast over Punk’s future with the promotion.

Omega and The Bucks have since returned with the promotion, and recent reports suggest that Punk could be on his way back as well. Although, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the locker room reacts to it.

This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all.
