WWE Raw May 13 2019: Hits and Misses from Monday Night Raw

WWE Raw May 13 2019: Hits and Misses from Monday Night Raw. Here’s a look at all the segments from tonight’s show that we either liked a lot or didn’t like at all.

Miz TV (Hit)

This opening segment was everything it needed to be. The Miz hyped Money in the bank, referenced his feud with Roman back when he was a heel and addressed his upcoming match with Shane in an impassioned promo. Roman and Miz were then ambushed by Elias and Bobby Lashley before Shane made a tag match between them.

The only downside to this entire segment was that we saw another false finish as Shane interrupted the match to get a hit in on the Miz. The faces stood tall however as Roman and The Miz got one back on Shane.

Braun Strowman Vs Sami Zayn announced. (Hit)

As much as I cringed at their confrontation last week, I love continuity. To see this addressed made me feel rewarded as a fan. Braun Strowman was summoned to Shane’s office, where a bitter Zayn threw a hissy fit. He demanded that he get Strowman’s money in the bank spot. Shane then announced a no-disqualification match between them for later in the night with Braun’s spot hanging in the balance. Everyone involved here was brilliant, no complains at all.

Mojo Rawley Vs Apollo Crews (Miss)

Mojo Rawley finally debuted his new look on the main roster. Unfortunately, there was nothing more to this match. Mojo took on Crews in a throw away match that did nothing for the other and ended before you could make a beeline for the bathroom.

Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss (Hit)

Nikki Cross is finally being used! The segment started with Alexa Bliss complaining about a baggage issue. Alexa then complained to Nikki about how she wouldn’t be able to perform as she didn’t have her wrestling gear. She then asked Nikki to take her place in the scheduled fatal four-way match. Nikki obliged although she looked a little confused and happy that someone had spoken to her for the first time in weeks. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes as it already has elements of the storied Trish-Mickey Wrestlemania feud.

Double Contract Signing (Hit)

How brilliant is Becky on the mic, right? The Man was on fire tonight as she dished one insult after the other on both her opponents. She called them twins and said that they were the one’s feeling the pressure instead of her. “One of you dopes can’t afford to lose her first championship match and the other her millionth”

Charlotte and Lacey were just as good though. They didn’t let the London crowd get to them. They both then teamed up to powerbomb Becky through the table. One small issue I have here is that I wanted Charlotte and Lacey to be hostile against each other on the Mic. They may have a common enemy at the moment but they also want to be the best don’t they? It doesn’t matter though, it was a good segment regardless.

Ricochet Vs Baron Corbin (Hit)

The two fought a decent match. Count on Ricochet to get a good match out of Baron Corbin. The Baron Corbin counter where he reversed Ricochet’s move into an End of Days was brilliant. Corbin pinned his opponent and climbed a ladder. A symbolism that he would win the money in the bank match. Ricochet however pushed him down as the crowd cheered.

Women’s fatal four-way match (Hit)

Nikki Cross surprised everyone by winning this match. This was probably the match of the night. The ladies finally got to show what they were capable of and did they deliver! The spot of the night goes to Dana for her splash from the table. After Nikki won, she got a ladder in the ring. However just as she was about to climb it, Alexa pulled her back and climbed instead while cross smiled and clapped. Could Alexa win the Money in the Bank with Cross’s interference? I don’t know but they have my attention now.

Rey Mysterio Vs Cesaro (Miss)

Don’t get me wrong, this was by no means a bad match. The storyline however is as stale as it gets. Why are we rehashing old storylines that were terrible the first time? This is no Trish-Mickey. It was thrash first time round with Eddie and it’s still garbage.

The Revival reviving? (Hit)

The segment stared with a bit of comedy but ended in a serious fashion as they called out the USO’s and warned them that they were coming for them. It should be noted that The Revival took on Lucha House Party before the show aired and beat them. After that they go on and cut this promo. Have the WWE finally given up on embarrassing the duo? Are they finally going to trat them like the stars that they are? Hopefully, but this is Vince and his pettiness we’re talking about.

Firefly Fun House (Super Hit)

Bray finally revealed his secret. He has learned to harness his darkness. He unveiled a new look. A creepy demonic clown face paint. The video opened to the jolly music like it always has but the ending was as ominous as it could get. Now that his true self has been revealed, he will get back in the ring now, hopefully.

Seth Rollins, AJ Style Promo (Miss)

The video package hyping their match was brilliant but their big go home angle was cutting backstage promos? AJ said that Raw was not Monday Night Rollins anymore and Seth said that he had looked up to AJ all these years but on Sunday AJ would be looking up to him. And that’s that.

Sami Zayn Vs Braun Strowman (Hit)

WWE Raw May 13 2019 ended with Sami finally winning his first match after his return from injury. It took 3 men to wear the Monster among Men down though. Corbin and McIntyre both interfered and it made sense. Most times heel band together because they’re heels but this time they had a reason. Sami was an easier opponent to have than Braun.

One can’t help feel bad for Strowman though. He was the biggest star in the company, this time last year. Now he’s fallen off the totem pole so low it’s hard to see him climb his way up. Well at least they made him look very strong in defeat though. Zayn finally has direction and it will be interesting to see where he goes from here. Could he end up winning the Money in the Bank? Well he certainly is a dark horse at this point.

Conclusion

The episode of WWE Raw May 13 2019 was not bad. It was actually good but when you take a moment to consider that this was your go home show, you realize that this show barely did anything to hype you for the Pay Per View. I’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 but here’s to hoping that it only goes up from here and continue the stories, the seeds of which they planted today.

Here are the Results of WWE Raw May 13 2019:

  • Roman and The Miz defeat Elias and Bobby Lashley Via disqualification.
  • Mojo Rawley defeats Apollo Crews
  • Baron Corbin defeats Ricochet
  • Nikki Crosse defeats Natalya, Naomi and Dana Brooke in a fatal Four-way match
  • Rey Mysterio defeats Cesaro
  • Sami Zayn defeats Braun Strowman in a no-disqualification match and takes his money in the bank spot.

See you next week with another Raw: Hits and Misses
