Brock Lesnar Cody Rhodes

Since his WWE return at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes has been on a dream run. In the last 13 months, no one other than Roman Reigns has pinned The American Nightmare. Even that loss came in at a big event like WrestleMania. Recently, he secured an impressive win against a 10-time world champion. During the main event of Backlash 2023, Cody Rhodes pinned none other than Brock Lesnar. And by doing so, he has broken a 7-year-long streak of “The Beast Incarnate”.

Every WWE fan is well aware of the fact that Brock Lesnar is not an easy person to win against. In fact, in the last 10-12 years, only a few can claim they have slayed the beast in the ring. Well, the 2023 men’s Royal Rumble winner is certainly one of them.

At the hands of Cody Rhodes at Backlash 2023, Brock Lesnar suffered his first non-title loss since 2016

Recently, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select brought some interesting stats to light. According to him, by defeating Brock Lesnar at Backlash 2023, Cody Rhodes broke a 7-year-long record.

Since 2016, The Beast Incarnate hasn’t suffered a loss in a non-title match. That means The American Nightmare is the first one to do so. The last time Brock was pinned without a title on the line was in 2016 by Goldberg. It was at that year’s Survivor Series, where “Da Man” squashed “The Beast Incarnate” within 90 seconds.

As a matter of fact, since his 2012 WWE return, only two other superstars have defeated Brock in a non-title match. First, John Cena at Extreme Rules 2012, and then, Triple H at Wrestlemania 29. He did lose to The Undertaker at SummerSlam 2015, but that wasn’t a clear pinfall.

Well, Cody Rhodes might have had the last laugh against Brock Lesnar at Backlash 2023, but this isn’t the end of the road.

Both men are reported to have at least two more matches out of which, one was confirmed recently

This week’s Monday Night RAW saw Brock costing Cody his shot at the new World Heavyweight Championship. The Beast Incarnate senselessly smashed The American Nightmare before challenging him to a fight. The two men are set to meet each other once again at Night of Champions on May 27.

Moreover, there are also reports that say WWE is planning Cody Rhodes versus Brock Lesnar part 3 for SummerSlam 2023. If that turns out to be true, fans are up for a treat at the biggest wrestling event of summer.
