Former WWE World Champion Allegedly Turned Down Opportunity to Be in Original nWo Because He Didn’t “Want to Work That Fu**ing Hard”
The nWo is arguably the greatest wrestling stable in the history of professional wrestling. There have been several factions before and after them, but none have left the kind of impact they had. They were so influential that at one point they almost put the WWE out of business. While they originally started as just three members, they eventually expanded exponentially. Despite this, however, the original three members are the only ones considered associated with the identity of the faction. Although, it appears that the group originally meant to start as a four-man faction.
During a recent episode of his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash revealed that he wanted a Black athlete in the faction. To this end, he approached Booker T to join the nWo. However, he turned down the offer for a bizarre reason.
Why did Booker T refuse to join the nWo?
According to Kevin Nash, he approached Booker T to join the nWo, but the future WWE Hall of Famer turned him down because he didn’t want to work as hard as them.
“I wanted Booker. I wanted a black athlete and Book was a real dude. He always has been,” Kevin Nash said. “I remember I asked him. I said, ‘Book, would you join the NWO?’ He looked at me and said, ‘Big fella man, Kev, I don’t want to work that fu**ing hard. You guys work every fu**ing house show.”
Booker T has previously talked about the offer from Kevin Nash. However, he had a different reason for his refusal. He also recalled the weird manner in which Nash presented him with the offer.
“Kevin Nash came to me, he goes, ‘Book, hey, Book, man, you know this nWo thing is getting real hot, bro. And, man, we need some color, man.’ I swear to God, that’s how he said it!” Booker T revealed.
He claimed that he chose not to join the nWo because doing so would mean that he would have to lose his identity.
“Being a part of a group like that, you gotta change the way you work, the way you act.” Booker T said.
Booker T eventually joined the nWo after WCW was purchased by WWE. However, this version of the nWo did not include either of the original members. His stay in the group was far from memorable, with him being kicked out of the faction by Shawn Michaels after less than a month with them.
