Is Vince McMahon selling WWE? The promotion have had a lot of tell tale signs of a business looking to maximize their profits after a sale.
The WWE have been making record profits in the last few years. They have secured billion dollar deals left and right and yet to continue release wrestlers in the name of budget cuts. Is the WWE simply trying to trim the fat after years of heading talent? Or is there something else going on?

Speculation is rife that Vince McMahon is preparing to put the promotion up for sale. WWE President, Nick Khan denied a potential sale on Colin Cowherd’s podcast back in April. Khan told Cowherd that Vince wouldn’t do that because he built it and was the best person to run the company. In the days since however, many believe that a sale is imminent.
Is Vince McMahon selling WWE?
According to a report from Fightful Select, there is a lot of speculation regarding a sale within the company. However, no one has heard anything about it from WWE officials.
“A lot of these releases were a surprise to many, and several within the company have already inquired to Fightful about the endgame of said releases. There is a lot of speculating within about a potential sale down the line, but we’ve not heard that from WWE officials.”
Former WWE writer Dave Schilling is also convinced that the WWE is preparing itself to be sold. He wrote:
“Ummm I think WWE is for sale.”
“You don’t cut talent assets on this level unless you are trying to maximize profits before a sale.”
“Braun is a legit top guy, a former world champion, and a merchandise mover. Alastair Black was getting a push on TV LAST WEEK. This is very telling.”

During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez also discussed the possibilty of WWE setting themselves up for sale.
“I do know and you can report this, there are a lot of people in and out of WWE and the business — fans — it’s no secret. Everybody believes Nick Khan is setting this company up to be sold. How do you say that it’s budgetary reasons when you’re making so much profit? Well, you say it’s budgetary reasons when you decide the amount of money that you’re going to spend on talent.”
“Everything is being paired down. They are setting themselves up for a sale, that is my belief.”
Even CM Punk couldn’t resist himself, tweeting a GIF from the “Trading Places” movie when Dan Akroyd’s character sells off his shares on the stock market.
