Original plan for Otis Money in the Bank cash in revealed

Original plan for Otis Money in the Bank cash in revealed. The Heavy Machinery member has held the briefcase for over three months now.

The money in the bank contract is usually the fastest way to elevate a wrestler to a higher upper card or even main event level. Edge’s ascension to the main event was fast tracked by the briefcase. The briefcase has also propelled the likes of Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Rob Van Dam and a few more to superstardom.

The holder this year was Heavy Machinery’s Otis. A surprising decision considering the calibre of wrestlers he was up against. AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio and Daniel Bryan are some of the biggest names in the industry. However, Otis seems even more out of place when you consider that SmackDown’s main event scene is occupied by Braun Strowman and The Fiend.

The title picture is now even more bloated with the return of Roman Reigns. How the WWE plan to fit in Otis without him sticking out like a sore thumb is anyone’s guess. However, Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue revealed that the WWE originally had a well laid plan to place the title around Otis’ waists without making any of their main event stars looking weak.

“The idea was that they could make a new star,” Colohue said during his RAW Preview session. “But of course, there have been many changes since.

“It was supposed to be The Fiend vs Roman Reigns at WrestleMania with Roman winning the Championship. That would evolve into a Championship match for King Corbin. King Corbin would be the man whom Otis would claim the briefcase on. Otis would be cashing in on King Corbin after he won his first Championship”

Interestingly Corbin himself is a former Money in the Bank winner himself. He was the third wrestler to fail to cash in. The decision was made after his comment on concussions earned him backstage heat. The fact that the WWE were planning to have Roman dethroned by him shows how far he has come since.

At the moment however, he is feuding with Matt Riddle and seems a distance from the title. Reigns on the other hand looks set to go after the Fiend to reclaim what he believes is his. In the meantime, it seems that Otis will have to wait for a while longer.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
