Renee Paquette reveals contrasting direction she was given by WWE while commentating on Jon Moxley

Renee Paquette reveals contrasting direction she was given by WWE while commentating on her real life husband Jon Moxley FKA Dean Ambrose.

Before his move to AEW, Jon Moxley wrestled as Dean Ambrose in the WWE. His wife Renee Paquette, known as Renee Young to the WWE Universe, was also part of the promotion. She started off as a backstage reporter but was eventually moved to commentary.

According to Paquette, doing so was very hard because of the presence of her husband on the roster. Speaking on The Chris Van Vliet Show, she revealed that she was given differing feedbacks regarding how to commentate on matches involving her husband,

“Some days I would get the feedback of, ‘Just call it like a wrestling match, you don’t know him.’ To then being like, ‘So what did you guys have for dinner last night? What did you guys talk about at home over the weekend,” Paquette revealed. “I’m like, ‘F***.’ I had no idea how to navigate that, so once he left I was like, ‘Well, at least I don’t have to deal with that anymore. Thank God.’”

She also revealed that it became even harder to commentate after Moxley turned heel. It was Corey Graves’ job to defend the heels while Paquette sided with the baby faces. She couldn’t decide whether to have her onscreen character support Moxley or chastise him.

This is an interesting insight on the professional lives of real life couples in the WWE who are differently aligned. No one would blame Paquette’s character for standing by her husband. To do so however, and then condemn other heels would definitely raise some eyebrows among fans,

Moxley would leave the WWE back in 2019 and joined AEW. He eventually became their World Champion and guided the promotion through the early dark days of the pandemic. Paquette departed from the company last year. Unlike her husband however, she hasn’t joined AEW.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
