WWE Stars did not want the Rock to return and main event Wrestlemania

WWE Stars did not want the Rock to return and main event Wrestlemania. The Brahma Bull was one of the biggest stars to ever come out of the promotion.

The Rock is right up there with the most popular wrestlers in the world. Outside of the industry there is no denying who the biggest crossover star from wrestling is. The fact that more people know who Dwayne Johnson is telling of the man’s success outside of pro-wrestling.

The Rock started making his early inroads into acting while still being a part of WWE. He was not making as many appearances as he previously did but made it a point to be a part of the major PPV’s such as Wrestlemania. According to Kurt Angle, this greatly upset many WWE Superstars who believed that he was taking the main event spot from them.

Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show on AdFreeShows.com, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle revealed that the reception to the Rock’s return to the WWE was not always warm backstage. However, he argued that the Rock earned every opportunity that came his way.

“I think everybody was more like; I want to do that too. You know, Dwayne would come back and wrestle at WrestleManias, and he deserves that. The career he had was, you know, unmatched. He was a very entertaining sports entertainer, and you know, some wrestlers, they’d get upset when he would come back because he would mainly take the main event at WrestleMania.”

“So, you know, the payoff for Dwayne at WrestleMania was really good, and some of the other wrestlers thought they might have missed out on a main event championship payoff. I understand why they would be upset, but Dwayne earned it, and if he ever wants to come back. If I was running WWE, I would want him to come back every year. He’s a huge star. He’s an A-list actor in Hollywood. One of the biggest stars there, and he can still go. Why not bring Rock in?”

CM Punk had the same complaint with the Brahma Bull when he was involved in the main events of both Wrestlemania 28 and 29. Wrestlemania 29 also happens to be the last Mania when the Rock had an actual match at the show.

It has been speculated that his next appearance will pit him against Roman Reigns; possibly at the Wrestlemania 39, which he will likely main event again. Considering the amount of success he has had behind him however, it should not be surprising why he would be awarded with the position.

This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all.
