If there’s anybody in the women’s division that exudes the toughness of a man, it is Becky Lynch. The 36-year-old is one of the most successful talents in the women’s division. The former Women’s Champion earned the nickname “The Man” in 2018. While her moniker stirred a controversy involving Ric Flair, it also got Becky Lynch calling out famous American singer – Taylor Swift.
After defeating Damage CTRL as a team at WrestleMania 39, the Irish wrestler was betrayed by Trish Stratus two weeks ago on Raw. Trish Stratus shockingly attacked The Man, after losing the Women’s Tag Team Championship titles to Liv and Raquel. Stratus’ heel turn portends a major feud-settling match in the future.
Becky Lynch calls out Taylor Swift for apparently stealing her shtick
Taylor Swift needs no introduction. The 33-year-old singer has produced world-famous music over the years. In 2019, Swift took to Twitter to post a picture of herself in a man’s shirt and captioned it- “When you’re pretttty sure that if you were a man, you’d be the man”.
At the time, Taylor had released her music video entitled “The Man”. Taking umbrage Becky Lynch responded to Taylor, teaching her to give credit where it’s due.
Becky took to Twitter and responded stating- “When you’re pretttty sure that Taytay is copying your homework”. And this was just the beginning.
During an interview with Denise Salcedo in 2020, Becky Lynch jokingly rehashed her trivial conflict with the pop star and blamed Taylor Swift for stealing her famous shtick.
“Tay Tay been stealing my homework. You saw what happened, saw what happened Taylor. You wanna give me some credit, you wanna give the man some credit”
We never got a response from Taylor Swift, but since WWE is so welcoming to its guests trying out wrestling, it would have been awesome to see Lynch and Swift come face-to-face someday.
Becky Lynch may face Trish Stratus at SummerSlam
After what happened between Trish and Becky two weeks ago, it’s conspicuous that the duo will soon go head-to-head in a match. However, the match hasn’t been announced for the forthcoming Premium Live Events. It’s worth noting that Lita was also taken out by Trish. And so, maybe Lita will also return looking for retribution.
But WWE is reportedly planning a major match between Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch for SummerSlam. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the match is being planned for WWE’s biggest night of the summer.
It’s clear that WWE is conjuring up another passing of the torch. Trish Stratus was last seen uplifting Charlotte Flair in 2019. SummerSlam will be held in August. It remains to be seen how the story develops until then.
