Was Michelle McCool in a covert relationship with a married Chris Benoit?
Michelle McCool and Chris Benoit were signed to SmackDown between 2006 and 2007. After the Benoit tragedy in June 2007, rumors spread that Benoit and McCool were in a covert relationship. Multiple sources started speculating about Benoit’s rumored affair with Michelle McCool.
Irv Muchnick even alleged in his book, Chris & Nancy, that Benoit texted a co-wrestler, asking for Michelle McCool’s phone number.
Some fans even went as far as to believe that the affair was what occasioned the double-murder suicide. Rumor mongers claimed that Benoit’s wife, Nancy, sent a text message to him after learning about his affair a month before the tragic incident.
While some sources believe in the unsubstantiated rumor about their affair, multiple wrestling personalities disagree. Hardcore Holly mentioned in his book, The Hardcore Truth, that Chris Benoit never cheated on his wife.
Furthermore, Rene Dupree addressed the rumor on his podcast, Cafe de Rene. According to him, Michelle McCool was always seen around The Undertaker. The former WWE star added that he had never heard about Benoit and McCool’s alleged relationship.
“I either [never heard of that]. That would go into the conspiracies, right? Yeah, I never heard that. I just saw like Michelle like all over ‘Taker like from the get-go. Yeah, I’d seen that not Benoit.”
However, Michelle McCool has not commented on her alleged entanglement with the Rabid Wolverine.

After spending 7 years in WWE, Michelle McCool decided to hang her boots in 2011. However, the All-American Diva made her surprise return to WWE earlier this year at the Royal Rumble. The 43-year-old entered the Women’s Royal Rumble match as entrant number 25.
While speaking on Busted Open Radio, McCool stated that retiring from wrestling broke her heart.
“I’m not afraid to fight. I’m not afraid to work for what I’ve got. In fact, we’re just lecturing our daughter about that, but it was hard, and it was stressful, and it broke my heart to retire.”
