Sasha Banks reveals which classic WWE feud inspired her rivalry with Bayley and why the SmackDown Women’s champion loved it so much.
You could be a top tier wrestler and the fans may still not be invested in you if you do not give them something to care about. Sasha Banks and Bayley’s feud was heavily followed by fans because the two had given them enough reasons to want to see their implosion and eventual fight.

This was possible due to the WWE giving them a year long storyline; documenting their rise to the top and the long road back down. This allowed the fans time to buy into the characters, their motivations to stick together and the reason why Bayley stuck a knife to best friend Sasha’s back.
Banks and Bayley were rivals in NXT. However, their animosity ended there and the two eventually made their way to the main roster. While there were signs of a feud back in 2018, they worked past their issues and became the first WWE Women’s tag team champions in 2019. They would win those titles again this year and finally split after losing and failing to win the titles back.

The WWE do not work long term storylines very often in the modern era. They were however, a staple back in the day. For instance, Mickey James feud with Trish Stratus. That was a feud that was build up for months before the two finally threw hands and that is exactly what Banks always wanted for herself as well.
“For me, I got really inspired from Trish Stratus and Mickie James,” Sasha Banks told Stephanie Chase. “They had a year-long storyline, and when I was watching as a teenager, that’s what I wanted growing up. I wanted a year-long story where you just were on the ride for the whole time. You were never going to get off this roller coaster.”
“For us, it’s kind of almost a revamp of that, besides me and Charlotte as well. It’s really cool to see just the investment and time WWE has given to not only myself and Bayley, but within all the women in WWE. Just every single week from Friday Night SmackDown, to NXT, to Monday Night RAW; it’s been nonstop of this incredible momentum of women just taking over the company.”
Sasha Banks fought Asuka at Survivor Series this last Sunday. That was the first time she successfully pinned the Empress of tomorrow. She will now set her sights on Carmella, who has been attacking her from behind for three straight weeks now.
