WWE is well-known for preserving its identity by keeping other promotions away during its live tapings. However, that was when the old regime used to run the daily operations. Now that the new one has taken over, things work differently within the company. Employees are allowed to speak with much more freedom than in the past. In fact, the last few months have seen the company often mention other promotions on live tv. Recently, WWE namedropped a huge AEW superstar during its pay-per-view.
For WWE fans, the recent Survivor Series event was special for two major reasons. First, the concept of WarGames made its official debut on the main roster. And second, it was the 10th anniversary of the legendary faction, The Sheild. However, wrestling fans also found a third reason to talk about the recent event.
WWE Commentator Michael Cole namedropped AEW superstar Jon Moxley during the show
The recent Survivor Series WarGames PPV saw two members of The Shield getting featured on the show. While Seth Rollins defended his IC title, Roman Reigns fought alongside his Bloodline in the main event. However, as far as the third member(Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley) is concerned, he was seen on the show. The obvious reason for that was Moxley is currently signed with AEW.
However, SmackDown commentator Michael Cole filled that void by mentioning him on the live event. During the Seth Rollins entrance, WWE fans noticed that Cole namedropped the current AEW superstar.
While The Visionary was making his way to the ring, the SmackDown Commentator talked about The Shield’s history and then mentioned Dean Ambrose.

Ambrose, who left WWE three years ago, became Jon Moxley after signing with AEW. Since then, the former member of The Shield has been a top star for the rival promotion. In fact, Moxley is the only AEW superstar who has held the world title three times.
The Hounds of Justice and their in-ring journey so far
During the main event of the 2012 Survivor Series, three unknown men attacked Ryback and put him through the announcer’s table. The stable comprised of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose was called The Shield and since then, it has emerged as one the bests of all time. All men, both individually and as singles stars, have been very successful.
Ten years after their debut, not only are they still relevant, they have written their names in pro wrestling history. Combined, they have held more than 10 world titles in WWE so far. And right now, while Seth and Reigns are ruling WWE, Moxley is doing the same in AEW.
Nevertheless, fans won’t be happy with WWE just namedropping the AEW superstar on live TV. What they always have and always will want is for him to make a return and reunite with his Shield Brothers. However, that’s unlikely to happen for the next few years.
