WWE SummerSlam rumor: AJ Styles’ opponent for the Intercontinental title revealed. The Phenomenal one has had several challengers in the last few weeks.

AJ Styles is likely to head into SummerSlam as the Intercontinental Champion. He has entertained challenges in the last few weeks since winning the title. However, he is yet to have a program leading up to the biggest party of the summer.

The last few weeks have seen the likes of Drew Gulak, Matt Riddle and Gran Matalik emerge as number one contender for the workhorse title. However, none of them will pursue Styles’ championship at SummerSlam in a couple of weeks.

AJ Styles’ opponent for the Intercontinental title revealed

According to PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, former WWE Champion Jeff Hardy is expected to take on Styles at SummerSlam. There is no word on who is likelier to come out on top. However, Hardy winning the title could be the feel good moment of the pay-per-view.

Hardy and Styles have previously worked together at TNA (Now Impact Wrestling) and are familiar with each other. Both wrestlers employ exciting movesets and have the potential to bring the house down if given the time and freedom.

However, the one complain, if this feud does happen, is that the WWE have left it too late for a story to develop. With SummerSlam scheduled for August 23, they only have two episodes of SmackDown to build this feud.
