MJF WWE Champion

Pro wrestlers very rarely namedrop other promotions or their superstars during their promos. However, if you talk about the current AEW champion MJF, he’s an all-different person. The Two-Year Vet often mentions WWE during promos and sometimes bluntly calls out its superstars. MJF claims to be a generational talent and in fact, puts himself in the league of WWE icons like John Cena and The Rock. There is no guarantee of when and how MJF will drag other promotions or superstars into his business.

Well, every modern-day wrestling fan is well aware of the witty sense of humous of The Devil. Recently, the current AEW world champion was seen using a catchphrase that WWE fans will be well aware of. In fact, the line he used, is linked to a top name that has held the WWE championship twice.

AEW Champion MJF used the famous catchline of WWE superstar AJ Styles

Yesterday, UBS Arena made a Twitter post in order to announce the return of AEW to Long Island, New York. The company will be holding its flagship show there on April 5, next year. However, MJF, who is a Long Island boy, responded to the tweet with an interesting caption. The Devil expressed his excitement but did so by indirectly mentioning WWE.

The self-proclaimed Generational Talent went on to use the catchline that is connected to 2-time WWE champion AJ Styles. During his time on the blue brand, The Phenomenal One used to say SmackDown is the House that AJ Styles built. Well, using something a similar line, the current AEW champion MJF wrote:

For fans, The Devil name-dropping a WWE superstar isn’t a surprise as he has often done that in the past. Since his return at September’s All Out PPV, MJF has often mentioned AEW’s rival company openly. In fact, the current AEW Champ claims to use his title as a bargaining chip in the bidding war of 2024.

The newly crowned champion recently had his first successful title defense

MJF became the new AEW champion last month after defeating Jon Moxley at Full Gear PPV. Claiming to hold the title until his contract expires, the Two-Year Vet has clarified he won’t be defending his title regularly.

However, at Dynamite’s recent “Winter Is Coming” edition, MJF put his AEW championship on the line against Ricky Starks. With the help of a low blow, he successfully retained the title in the main event of the show.

Nevertheless, even though it was an indirect shot, MJF did mock AJ Styles with his comment. As of now, The Phenomenal One has not responded but it will be interesting to see if and how he reacts. In the meantime, MJF will be keeping a close eye on Bryan Danielson who is going to face next.
