Road Dogg has been a notable name, not just in the WWE ring but also behind the scenes. The Hall of Famer is well-known for his work as a part of the New Age Outlaws faction and after that, backstage with Triple H in NXT. Considering his time in the WWE creative, the veteran must have a solid relationship with many superstars of this era. Well, that’s not the as a former WWE superstar has recently opened up about his beef with Road Dogg.
Current AEW superstar and a member of FTR, Dax Harwood, is a former one-half of WWE’s The Revival tag team. Recently, Harwood claimed that he was not on good terms with Road Dogg during his NXT days. While promoting his upcoming “FTR with Dax Harwood” podcast, the former 3-time WWE tag team champion discussed the issues he had with the WWE Hall of Famer.
Dax Harwood claims Road Dogg threatened to stop his WWE main roster push
Speaking on the Gentleman Villain podcast, the current AEW superstar shared why he doesn’t see eye-to-eye with WWE veteran Road Dogg. According to him, the Hall of Famer felt disrespected after he spoke up following their 2016 NXT Takeover match against American Alpha. In fact, Harwood claimed Road Dogg took the matter to WWE higher-ups and buried him.
Moreover, later that year, fans were expecting The Revival to make their main roster debut in a ‘Gauntlet’ match. The gimmick match was set to take place on an episode of SmackDown Live. However, Dax Harwood, who was a heel back then, took to Twitter and called the match stupid.
That was it as things got worse between the former WWE superstar and Road Dogg. During the podcast, Harwood stated Road Dogg got offended by his tweet and threatened to block his advancement in WWE. He stated:
“At the time Road Dogg was booking and he took offense… and he proceeded to write on Twitter that if I kept it up, he would make sure I would never make it to the main roster…”
The former WWE superstar respects Road Dogg as a legacy performer but doesn’t have the same feeling for his backstage work.
The Revival has held the tag team championships of all three main brands of WWE
Under the Vince McMahon regime, The Revival never received the push that everyone believed they deserved. What many considered one of the best tag teams, was always underutilized by the former WWE CEO. However, despite the lack of proper push, they went on to win the tag team gold of all three brands. In their WWE career, Revival won the Raw Tag Team Titles twice, the SmackDown Tag Team Titles once, and the NXT Tag Team Titles twice.
Nevertheless, right now, the former WWE tag team works in AEW under the ring name FTR. And so far, they have an excellent job in the company. In fact, they recently delivered an epic tag team match at ROH’s Final Battle pay-per-view.
