Throughout his three-decade-long career, never once was The Undertaker seen breaking character. Every version of The Undertaker commanded respect and held authority in the ring. It is also known that Taker ruled the roost backstage. The Deadman stayed true to his role in WWE until the very end of his career. He was seen in several podcasts and talk shows only after his career concluded. But during his stint, he kept the mystery of his character intact by never breaking kayfabe. However, there were instances when he came very close to breaking his character.
Nobody can forget the friendship and rivalry between Kurt Angle and The Undertaker. The duo was involved in some of the funniest backstage segments and highly competitive matches in the Attitude Era. One of the best matches of their careers was against each other in the Ruthless Aggression Era at No Way Out in 2006 which was won by Kurt Angle.
WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recalled when he fooled around with The Undertaker after a match in hopes of temporarily deviating him from his on-screen personality.
Kurt Angle recalls when he kissed The Undertaker on the lips to rile him up in the ring
Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic Hero Kurt Angle recalled when he almost made the Undertaker break kayfabe by kissing him on the lips. Angle stated that he and Taker competed in Japan and after the match concluded, Angle shook Undertaker’s hand and went for a hug. While hugging Taker, Kurt stole a quick smooch and ran away. While The Undertaker seemed disgusted, he half-smiled, got back into his Big Evil character, and jokingly threatened Kurt Angle.
“We went to hug, and I kissed him on the lips. He was so freaking mad. He’s like, ‘It’s a long plane ride home, Angle,’ that’s what he said to me. But I kissed him right on the lips. The only time I ever heard him laugh.”
The Undertaker once nearly choked out Kurt Angle on a plane
Speaking on the Broken Skull Session, The Phenom recalled the incident when he nearly choked out Kurt Angle. During WWE’s tour of the United Kingdom for Insurrextion PPV in 2001, The Undertaker nodded off on the plane due to an ear injury. Meanwhile, Kurt Angle and Vince McMahon started wrestling in the middle of the aisle.
The ruckus woke up a confused Taker, who thought the two men were genuinely fighting. Taker quickly put Angle in a choke hold, only to release him immediately after learning that it was all for fun.
