The talk of the town in the world of wrestling right now is the upcoming sale of WWE. Ousted former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon engineered a successful return at the helm of WWE by taking advantage of his position as the controlling stockholder. Since his return, rumors have emerged regarding who will be the new owners of the wrestling juggernaut. There were talks of a possible purchase by Saudi Arabia through their Public Interest Fund. However, those rumors have since been squashed, and it appears that the new ownership is still up in the air.

Vince McMahon reinstated himself to the board in a bid to help facilitate the sale. However, with no clear front-runner to purchase the multibillion-dollar company, rumor mills are working overtime, scrutinizing and carefully monitoring every move in order to come across a clue.

Nick Khan recently met the Disney CEO and ESPN president amid talks of WWE sale

One such hint towards a potential sale has just come through. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shared Nick Khan’s whereabouts on Monday night. The WWE president, and now sole CEO, was not at RAW. Instead, he was reportedly in Los Angles, meeting some heavy hitters.

Meltzer said:

“Nick Khan was in Los Angeles when I was in Los Angeles… [Nick] went to the football game Monday night. He wasn’t at Raw and met with heavy hitters because they went to the College Football Championship game [between TCU and Georgia at SoFi Stadium], Bob Iger, Jimmy Pitaro, so I guess those names will ring some bells.”

For the unaware, Bob Iger is Disney’s CEO and James Pitaro is the ESPN President. While we do not fully understand the purpose of their meeting, it has come so at an interesting time. It is important to note that Disney is among the many companies speculated to purchase WWE, which makes this all the more gripping.

Is Saudi Arabia still in the running to purchase WWE?

We now know that the WWE has not come to any agreement with Saudi Arabia regarding a sale. However, they are not out of the hunt. According to Meltzer, they are still very much interested in the purchase of WWE and are among many who desire the same.

He said:

“They’re not sold. Saudi Arabia is in the hunt. They’re one of the companies, one of the places that’s looking for it… several media companies, the names that are out there are all in the hunt.”

Meltzer also stated that the sale will most likely take place in the middle of this year. To who, however, is the big question on everyone’s lips.
