This year has been an eventful one for the pro wrestling world both positively and negatively. In 2022, fans have seen returns, pipe bombs, backstage fights, and even a hush-money scandal that led to the exit of ex-WWE CEO Vince McMahon. However, when he was in charge, Sasha Banks and Naomi were suspended in May following their walkout. Finally, after more than six months, there are some noteworthy updates about The Boss. However, the reports might not please her fans as it claims Sasha Banks might not return to WWE because of her asking price.

Before the 16th May episode of RAW, Sasha and Naomi walked out of the arena, leaving their tag titles backstage. Both women tried to express their discontent with the creative direction but instead, ended up getting virtually erased from WWE. During this Sunday edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer discussed the current situation of The Boss.

Sasha Banks is done with WWE for now as she demands a huge price

Ever since Triple H took over Vince McMahon’s duties, there have been rumors about Sasha Banks’ WWE return. However, none of that has happened and in fact, as of now, things are not looking good.

Dave Meltzer, in this Sunday’s report, discussed the current status of Sasha Banks and whether she will return to WWE. Meltzer stated the WWE sources he spoke with had nothing to say about the whole situation.

The important thing in the report was that WWE is talking to Sasha Banks about a return but there is a money issue. Meltzer claimed both parties are very far apart on money. He also added that what Banks is asking, is a very high number for a WWE woman wrestler.

“[WWE] were talking to her about a return, and they were very far apart on money. That was the last that I had heard…” Meltzer stated.

As of November 2022, Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey are WWE’s top-paid female superstars with The Man getting $3.1 million per year. So, considering what Meltzer stated, Sasha Banks is asking more money than what WWE is paying Lynch. That’s a huge ask for a female superstar.

However, Meltzer stated that in comparison to what the WWE was making, she would still be underpaid even if they had come to an agreement.

“She wanted a lot. What she was asking for was a very high number for a WWE woman wrestler but again, if you look at the amount of money WWE takes in, she still would have been underpaid.”

What are the chances of The Boss making a return to WWE?

In his report, Meltzer also discussed what could be the conclusion of the current situation between Sasha Banks and WWE. He noted although the demand is high, only WWE and AEW can afford that kind of price. The Boss is reported to make a couple of appearances in NJPW but isn’t booked to wrestle.

In short, Dave Meltzer neither confirmed nor denied the return of Sasha Banks to WWE. Though he was sure that as of now, she is done with the company. Although, he also asserted that that could change at any time. Her current contract with WWE is expected to end this month.

Nevertheless, looking at the current situation, the chances of The Boss returning appear as bad as they were six months ago. However, trusting Triple H’s relationship with the talents, fans can expect something better to happen. Still, it all depends on whether WWE will pay Sasha Banks what she demands or whether the latter will reconsider her signing amount.
