CM Punk AEW Collision

CM Punk is undoubtedly one of the most polarizing names in the history of pro wrestling. When it comes to the Straight Edged Superstar, either you hate him or totally like him. Well, the one-year run CM Punk had with AEW has been a mixed one, especially in the last few months. Despite making an epic debut last year, the 2-time AEW champion ended up becoming the company’s biggest villain. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash discussed Punk’s AEW career and expressed his opinions.

After this year’s AEW All Out PPV, CM Punk lashed out his anger during the media scrum. The outrage led to him getting into a backstage fight with The Elite and finally getting suspended. As of now, the Straight Edged Superstar is neither a member of AEW nor a free agent.

Kevin Nash asserts internal politics cut the AEW run of CM Punk

During a recent episode of his Kliq This podcast, Big Daddy Cool discussed the disputable AEW run of CM Punk. On the show, Kevin Nash was asked to share his opinions about the whole Punk-AEW dispute.

The 2-time Hall of Famer stated that the AEW run of CM Punk got cut due to internal politics. Nash feels there was a lot of heat against the Straight Edged Superstar backstage. Diesel added he sees a lot of similarities between him and Punk and in fact, went on to call him a prick.

However, analyzing the AEW run of CM Punk, the 63-year-old veteran noted when Punk signed, he was aware of who was selling. Nash added that CM Punk has numbers to throw when it comes to merchandise selling. Overall, he felt working with unscripted promos can cause problems in his personal life.

The Straight Edged Superstar’s AEW debut got a reaction from Guinness World Records

As noted above, CM Punk is a polarizing superstar, and proof of that is available on social media. When he made his AEW debut last year, the crowd in attendance gave him a thunderous pop. In fact, when AEW post that video on its official YouTube channel, Guinness World Records reacted to that with this comment:

“Biggest wrestling pop world record anyone???”

Although it was later clarified that there’s no way to measure a such thing, they did find that reaction crazy.

Nevertheless, the AEW run of CM Punk didn’t last long as he is currently under suspension. And amid reports of him aiming for a buyout, it won’t be wrong that Punk is done there. However, it will be interesting to see which way will be the Straight Edged Superstar heading after AEW.
