Zaheer Khan roped in by Mumbai Indians

Zaheer Khan roped in by Mumbai Indians: Former Indian spearhead will work for his previous franchise in IPL 2019.

IPL franchise Mumbai Indians have acquired the services of former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan for the 12th edition of the IPL (Indian Premier League). Having played for his home franchise in 2009, 2010 and 2014, Khan has received another homecoming, albeit not in the capacity of a player.

Khan will play the role of Director of Cricket Operations at Indians during IPL 2019. The news broke out last night after Mumbai Indians took to their Twitter account to make the announcement.

 

 

In which was his second stint with the Indians in 2014, Khan was seen traveling to the north as he led Delhi Daredevils for three seasons. In the 30 matches that he played for Mumbai, he counted for 29 wickets at an average of 27.41 and an economy rate of 7.38.

Overall, in 100 IPL matches, Khan picked up 102 wickets at an average of 27.27 and an economy rate of 7.58.

With the Indians having made the announcement now, Khan will be present at the auction table which will start in a couple of hours time. Someone of his potential, experience and stature is highly likely to assist the franchise, especially during the auction. Furthermore, Khan’s presence will add another notable name to their entourage of support staff.
