“Zion Williamson Recreating His Iconic Block from Duke!”: NBA Twitter Went Berserk After NOLA Star’s Incredible Play Vs the Suns

After defeating the Phoenix Suns in both of their past clashes this past week, the New Orleans Pelicans suffered a tough loss on Saturday night. Despite leading the contest by as much as 24 points, the Pelicans lost. All thanks to Devin Booker’s 58-point outburst, Monty Williams’ boys managed to upset Zion Williamson and co. with a final scoreline of 118-114.

“Zanos”, who has been playing some of the best basketball of his career lately, went to record a 2nd straight 30-point game. Apart from scoring 30 points on 80% shooting from the field, the southpaw managed to record out 9 assists and collect 3 boards.

And aside from flushing down several dunks and dishing out several gorgeous assists, the 22-year-old even had one absolutely sensational defensive play that left the 17,000+ supporters at the Footprint Center in awe.

NBA Twitter reacts to Williamson’s unreal block

Late in the 4th quarter of the Suns-Pelicans bout, Josh Okogie received the ball at the corner. Okogie, who was fairly open, attempted a 3-point attempt. Just as the PHX guard shot the ball, Zion sprung up, took a massive leap, and swatted the ball, sending it out of bounds.

Here, have a look at Zion’s athletic play.

NBA Twitter was fast enough to draw comparisons to the block Williamson himself recorded during his Duke days.

Zion Williamson rejected De’Andre Hunter’s shot attempt in 2019

Zion was a beast during his days in Duke. The man has one of the craziest highlight mixes in college basketball history. Apart from breaking down several rims, the 6-foot-6 forward also has one of the most memorable defensive plays – blocking De’Andre Hunter’s shot attempt.

During the Duke-Virginia clash, Hunter seemed to be wide open in the corner. As he attempted a 3-point shot with 4:32 minutes remaining in the clash, Williamson covered almost 25 feet, rose, and sent the ball flying into the stands.
