17-year-old Sri Lankan bowler aces Lasith Malinga's famous bowling action

17-year-old Sri Lankan bowler aces Lasith Malinga’s famous bowling action, after a video gets viral online with youngster perfecting the action.

Lasith Malinga was among the most deadly bowlers at his prime. With deadly yorkers, no batsman had a chance to stand against him for long during his peak years.

There is no doubt that Malinga is a legend in Sri Lanka, and among the greatest bowlers to play for the island nation. Thus, it is sure that he would be having admirers.

One such video came online, where a 17-year-old bowler got famous after taking a wicket while perfecting Malinga’s iconic action during a cricket match.

Since then, the video has went viral and the player has earned the tag of ‘next Malinga’. The 17-year old Matheesa Pathirana from Kandy special was his sling-arm action like that of Malinga, and as the ball was delivered, Pathirana knocked the bails off the wickets in splendid style.

It seems that Sri Lanka has got its new version of Malinga, who’s at the end of his career as the veteran bowler is of 36, and could leave the game at any time.

However, Malinga is still a force to reckon with especially in T20Is. In his last series, he thrashed New Zealand with his deadly bowling. In the third and final T20I of the series, he picked up an unbelievable four wickets in four balls.

Malinga ended up the game with 5 wickets in hand and only conceding only 6 runs in the process.  It was his spell that helped Sri Lanka defend 125 and avoid a whitewash at home. During the series, the right-arm pacer also became the leading wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game.

Hence, with this Malinga will truly be missed from the game, but if Pathirana makes big in his cricket career, then he can surely give the glimpses of Nostalgia.
