Jolyon Palmer out Carlos Sainz in
Carlos Sainz Jr is set to replace Jolyon Palmer at Renault F1 team from US COTA circuit this season. Palmer informed the press that Suzuka race will be his last race with Renault F1 team.
Earlier, deal was signed between Renault and Carlos Sainz Jr for the next year’s F1 season. But, it was a shocking announcement by Renault stating that Carlos will be racing at Austin for their team. Eventually, Suzuka circuit will be the last race for Sainz with Toro Rosso team. Scuderia Toro Rosso team also signed engine contract with Honda for their next season.
Interestingly, Daniil Kvyat will be Pierre Gasly’s team mate from Austin race week. If Gasly decides to race Super Formula instead of Austin, then it would be a tough situation for the Italian Toro Rosso team.
Jolyon Palmer had a very twisty F1 season this year. But, after the summer break things started to come good for Palmer. Palmer faced a lot of reliability problems due to Renault during the first half this season. But, after the summer break, Palmer started to grab many points as possible for his team. In Singapore, Palmer finished in career high sixth position and took many points.
In Japan, Palmer claimed P12 in the qualifying session. But due to his grid penalty he started from P18. Palmer on his last race for Renault finished a comprehensive P12 position at Suzuka circuit, Japan.
