Herschelle Gibbs acknowledges Virat Kohli quoting him as “favourite cricketer”
Herschelle Gibbs acknowledges Virat Kohli: The former South African cricketer tweeted on an old video of the Indian captain.
Former South Africa opening batsman Herschelle Gibbs is doing the rounds these days primarily because of his posts on social media platform Twitter.
Gibbs’ tweets came into the limelight majorly when he tweeted on India captain Virat Kohli during the second T20I of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Mohali.
In an innings where Kohli scored his 22nd T20I half-century in yet another successful run-chase, Gibbs was particularly impressed with one of Kohli’s sublime flick of South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada.
With response from several Indians fans on his tweet, the conversation saw Gibbs expressing his interest to become the batting coach of Kohli-led Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore.

With Royal Challengers recently confirming their support staff for the next season of the IPL, the prospects of Gibbs getting onboard seems unlikely.
Having made his international debut in 1996, Gibbs had scored over 14,000 runs in 361 international appearances across formats for South Africa. In 36 IPL matches for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians, Gibbs had scored 886 runs at an average of 27.68 and a strike rate of 109.78 including six half-centuries.
I love this game 💙

As far as the India-South Africa series is concerned, both teams will take on each other in the third T20I in Bengaluru tomorrow.
