Umesh Yadav dismisses Faf du Plessis: The Indian fast bowler bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss the South African captain.

During the third day of the third Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Ranchi, India fast bowler Umesh Yadav bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss South Africa captain Faf du Plessis in the first over of the day.

It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the sixth over when du Plessis seemed to have no answer to a Yadav delivery which pitched on middle and off but moved away enough to deceive the batsman. The same happening first up against an unsettled batsman further made it hard for him to defend the ball.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the third over last evening, du Plessis ended up scoring 1 (9). With South Africa already losing their opening batsmen cheaply, they needed du Plessis to deliver today.

Talking about Yadav, du Plessis became his second wicket in this innings after he dismissed Quinton de Kock (4) yesterday. The 31-year old bowler has bowled exceptionally well after earning a surprise recall to the Indian squad.

After India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat, the hosts scored a praiseworthy 497/9 dec. in 116.3 overs. It was a 267-run partnership between opening batsman Rohit Sharma (212) and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (115) which put India in a dominating position today.
