ICC Test Championship Ranking Points Table
Having won the match, India have continued their unbeaten streak in the ICC World Test Championship. It is worth mentioning that they are the only team which has played a Test but hasn’t lost one in the tournament till now.
India had won 120 points after whitewashing (2-0) West Indies in West Indies earlier this year. Having won the third Test against South Africa, India have gained an additional 40 points now. With a total of 240 points under their belt, India have retained their top position in the points table.
With 60 points to their name, both New Zealand and Sri Lanka are below India. Having earned four times the points the second-ranked team, India sure have dominated the tournament till now.
The reason why India have won 40 points for a win instead of 60 in this series is because this is a three-match series as compared to a two-match series in West Indies. Each series in the World Test Championship is worth 120 points. The points for each victory will be 120 divided by number of matches to be played in the series.
